The goal of the Adult Day program is to provide respite for caregivers and family members. The program offers a variety of quality activities and services in a safe and supportive environment to individuals living in the community who are physically frail or have cognitive impairment. Participants receive nutritious meals and snacks, and assistance with activities of daily living. Operation is Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. There is a daily fee for service. Transportation to and from the program is also available for an additional fee.

Our social program provides an opportunity for individuals in the community to meet for a light snack, socialize and enjoy an array of special activities and seasonal events. These gatherings provide older adults and seniors a safe place to socialize which helps to reduce isolation. Fun activities such as Zumba Gold designed for seniors, Coach Bus trips, presentations on various topics and of course lively enjoyable conversations. Our social activities are a great place to build new friendships and learn about our community. A small fee is charged at the door to cover the cost of the coffee, tea and snacks.

This program promotes a healthy lifestyle for the clients and members in our community. We provide bus trips to concerts and other special locations like St. Jacobs, Niagara-on-the-Lake, noon hour concerts at Roy Thomson Hall, Canadian Opera Company noon hour concert, restaurant lunch trips, grocery weekly shopping outings and gentle fitness classes. We provide foot nail cutting by Doctor of Podiatry for a fee of $15.00 cash at the time of service. To arrange an appointment, please call the main office at 416-259-4207.

This brokerage program links seniors and disabled clients with mature adults and/or service providers who provide grass cutting and snow shoveling services.

Homeworkers are available to assist with light housekeeping duties. Such duties may include: tidying up main living areas (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping), washing dishes and countertop, cleaning sinks, bathtub and toilets, changing bedding, light meal preparation, light laundry and light shopping (4 bags max). Prior to service, a Care Coordinator will conduct an in-home assessment to plan and coordinate services to meet your needs.

Personal support workers are available to assist clients with personal care and hygiene to promote living at home independently and safely. We have a compassionate team of dedicated Personal Support Workers who deliver care, respect and dignity to the clients and families that we serve. Prior to service a Care Coordinator will conduct an in-home assessment to plan and coordinate services to meet your needs.

This referral program is available to assist with home maintenance work. Available services include painting walls/cabinets, washing walls/cabinets, installation of air conditioners/smoke alarms, carpet cleaning, and other small repairs.

A Care Coordinator is your guide to accessing our services. They will ask you questions over the phone or in person to help determine how we can best help you. Should you require a service that Storefront Humber does not provide, the Care Coordinator will help link you to another community service that meets your needs.

Respite Care offers in-home, short-term relief for caregivers who are primary care providers to frail and/or disabled older adults who cannot be safely left alone, allowing them free time for other activities.

Supportive housing sites provide care to clients who require frequent visits throughout the day. Personal Support Workers are available to assist with personal care and hygiene, medication reminders, light meal preparation, light housekeeping and laundry. Prior to service a Care Coordinator will conduct an in-home assessment to plan and coordinate services to meet your needs. Storefront Humber Inc provides transportation service within the South Etobicoke area. We provide rides to the shopping centre, as well as medical rides to your doctor's appointment. We also offer transportation to our foot clinic, congregate dining and lunch program.

Storefront Humber Inc. is a member of Toronto Ride. Launched in 1998, Toronto Ride is a collaborative partnership of fourteen not-for-profit, community support service agencies that provides door-to-door, assisted transportation to seniors 55+ and adults with disabilities who are not eligible for Wheel-Trans. Its transportation services help clients live independently by offering equitable access to health care, Adult Day Programs, and appointments and activities in the Toronto-area.

We like to provide opportunities for individuals to participate in many different ways here at Storefront Humber.
